Covid-19 Updates & Activities

Diseases such as COVID-19 pose a risk to the travelling public because they can be transmitted between humans. Therefore, it is important that all involved stakeholders assist in limiting its spread by social distancing.

Square Dancing –  Dancing in the Garage

Jeff Priest recommends going to the Dancing in the Garage series.
Click on the link to view the complete video listing of the “two person” dancing that was created by Bob Simpson and Darby Love. The challenge has been to address social distancing in square and round dancing. The “Dancing in the Garage Series” is specifically designed for two person squares & rounds and can be done in your basement, garage or driveway. These videos are presented as dance-along fun-shops and tutorials. Jeff Priest notes that the list is in reverse order so recommends starting at the bottom.

The Round Dance  Hour – Virtual Dance

Bruce & Mary Nelson (instructors/leaders) received several messages from dancers around Alberta that were into serious dance withdrawal, and were looking for dance of some kind that they could do during this time of social distancing, where groups cannot get together for a dance.

We have come up with a solution, if you have space in your house that you can manage to dance in, or in your garage, or carport, or even on the driveway or back deck, wherever, as long as you can bring your computer, laptop or iPad to the area you pick to dance, you can join one of our Virtual Round Dances. You can just click on one of the links below and join our zoom meeting dance. If you have a webcam on your system, you will be able see yourself and other dancers and talk to each other on the break or even send a chat message to one person or to everyone. If you don’t have a webcam you can call in and listen to the dance.

Bruce and Mary Nelson (Alberta) are hosting virtual round dancing three evenings a week until August. The links for the different evenings are noted below.
